Anas video: John Mahama's name pops up in $8m Nyantakyi scandal
The Forensic Financial Unit of the Police CID is investigating the second leg of controversial Anas video in which the Ghana Football Association President is accused of fraud and influence peddling. It is emerging former government officials, including the ex-president John Mahama may be investigated by the police CID over claims they benefitted from donations by investor friends linked to Kwesi Nyantakyi. In a statement written by Mr Nyantakyi on May 23, excerpts of which have been gleaned by Joy News, the embattled FA president is reported as saying an amount of $8 million was given to Mr Mahama and the NDC ahead of 2016 elections. The police CID are therefore investigating whether or not the money was sent, how it was sent, if at all it was and who received what amount. The police are also looking into a possible breach of financial laws if indeed the amount of money was sent.
